Accessibility

Accessibility mission statement

The Wildcat Shop aims to welcome all customers in the store and online. Students, prospective students, employees, and other visitors may have visual, hearing, cognitive, or other disabilities and may use screen readers or other assistive technology to access the site.

The U.S. Department of Justice’s ADA Title II web and mobile app rule identifies WCAG 2.1 Level AA as the technical standard for public universities. We are working toward that standard across this site and services provided on our behalf. This statement is a commitment to improvement, not a claim that the entire store has been audited or already conforms.

How we check accessibility

  • Check page markup with the W3C validator and review headings, lists, labels, and form errors with assistive technology.
  • Test text and interface contrast with the WebAIM Contrast Checker and confirm links are recognizable without relying only on color.
  • Provide text alternatives for meaningful images and captions or other required alternatives for video and audio.
  • Navigate pages, forms, checkout, and embedded services with a keyboard, including visible focus and usable controls.
  • Check that screen readers can identify content and updates and that pages remain usable when enlarged, reflowed, or viewed in different orientations.
  • Review vendor-provided services against the full WCAG 2.1 Level AA criteria, including input methods, hover and focus content, and status messages.
